Salisbury Steak

Salisbury Steak

INGREDIENTS

Steak
1lb Ground Beef
1/4 Cup Panko Bread Crumbs
1/2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp Salt
Ground Pepper
1 Egg
2 Tbsp Olive Oil

Gravy
Use the Awesome Mushroom Gravy Recipe:

2 8oz pkgs White Mushrooms
1 4oz Stick Salted Butter
2 pkgs Brown Gravy Mix
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 Cup Burgundy Wine
Salt and Pepper

METHOD

Prepare the Gravy
1. Prepare the Brown Gravy Mixture according to the package instructions.
2. When done, remove from heat.

The Meat
1. In a bowl, add the Egg and Worcestershire sauce as well as some pepper. Beat together well.
2. Crumble the Ground Beef into a separate larger mixing bowl.
3. Add the Panko, Salt, and Egg mixture to the Ground Beef. Combine thoroughly using gloved hands.
4. Separate the mixture into 4 equal balls.
5. Press the balls flat into patties about 1/4-1/2 inch thick. Set aside.
6. Add the Olive Oil to a large flat skillet on medium heat.
7. Once the oil has heated up, add the patties and cook for 3 minutes on each side.
8. Remove them from the pan to a plate. Set aside.

Finish the Gravy
1. Add the Butter to a separate wide and shallow saucepan on medium heat. (You can use the same pan you cooked the patties in if you wipe away all the excess oil, and the pan has sides.)
2. When butter has melted add the mushrooms. Cook until brown. (approx. 2 minutes)
3. Add the prepared gravy to the mushrooms and mix well.
4. Add the Burgundy and Garlic Powder and simmer for 2-3 minutes to remove the alcohol.
5. Season with Salt & Pepper.
6. Add the patties to the gravy and simmer on low for 5 or so minutes to reheat the patties.

HOW TO SERVE
Serve the patty with a generous spoonful or two of the gravy. Goes excellent with Mashed potatoes and Green Beans.
