White Bread
INGREDIENTS
1 1/4 Cup Warm Water
2 1/2 tsp Yeast
3 Tbsp Sugar
1 Cup Warm Milk
2 Tbsp Butter
5 1/2-6 Cups Flour
1 Tbsp Salt
METHOD
1. In the bowl of a mixer add Yeast, Sugar, and Water. Stir until all of the Yeast is wet.
2. Warm the Milk and Butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat just enough to melt to butter. DO NOT let milk boil.
3. When the yeast starts to bubble (5 minutes) add 4 Cups of Flour on top of the yeast mix. Then sprinkle the Salt on top of the Flour.
4. Pour the Milk/Butter mix onto of the Flour. Mix on low/medium until combined.
5. Add remaining Flour as needed until it forms a slightly sticky ball (tacky to the touch but doesn't stay on your fingers).
6. Cover dough with a dish towel and let raise until it doubles in size (approx. 45-60 minutes).
7. Preheat oven to 425F.
8. Once dough has doubled in size, punch it down.
9. Remove from bowl to counter and divide in two.
10. Form two loaves and place in greased bread pans.
11. Let them raise while the oven heats up.
12. Bake for 10 minutes.
13. Without removing the loaves, reduce heat to 325F and continue to bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown and loaf sounds hollow when you knock on it.
14. When done, remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
15. Remove from pan to cooling racks to finishing cooling down.
16. Once completely cooled, store in a zip lock bag.
